How does ProteinScore compare protein products?

ProteinScore compares any 2-4 protein products side-by-side using two independent metrics: Protein Score (rates protein density, calories and sugar per serve out of 10) and Clean Score (rates ingredient quality and additive load out of 10). Both scores use the same Australian-specific formula, so comparisons across brands and categories are apples-to-apples.

Yes — Protein Score and Clean Score are normalised per 100g and per serve, so cross-category comparisons (e.g. a protein bar vs a protein yoghurt) are valid. The comparison view shows per-serve and per-100g nutrition side-by-side so you can choose what suits your eating pattern.

What's the difference between Protein Score and Clean Score?

Protein Score (0-10) measures nutritional efficiency: how much protein you get per calorie and per gram of sugar. Clean Score (0-10) measures ingredient quality: it penalises ultra-processed additives, artificial sweeteners, colours and preservatives. A product can score high on one and low on the other — the comparison page shows both.
