Information on this Service must not be interpreted as professional nutritional, dietary, medical, or health advice. We are an editorial publisher, not a clinic, dietitian, or regulator. We cover popular Australian protein products, not every product on the market.

This platform does not provide medical, therapeutic, clinical, or health advice of any nature. Our scores, rankings, buying guides, and editorial content describe product characteristics (such as protein content per 100g, ingredient count, and overall ingredient quality) relative to their product category. They do not constitute a recommendation for any specific person's dietary needs, health goals, or medical condition.

3. Nutritional Data Accuracy
Nutritional data is sourced from manufacturer websites and product labels at the time of collection, and is updated routinely to reflect current formulations. However, errors and omissions may occur, and we cannot guarantee that every value is correct, current, or complete at the time of reading. Product formulations, serving sizes, ingredient lists, and packaging can and do change without notice. Always read the label on the actual product you purchase, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements, food allergies, or intolerances.
Product availability at specific retailers (including Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, IGA, Chemist Warehouse, Priceline Pharmacy, Amazon Australia, ASN, Nutrition Warehouse and others) is indicative only and may not reflect current stock levels, regional availability, online vs in-store ranging, or discontinuations.
Energy and protein reference values referenced on this platform (including the 8,700 kJ/day figure and protein multipliers) are sourced from the NHMRC Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand and Sports Dietitians Australia. These are population-level reference ranges, not individual recommendations.
3B. Allergen, Intolerance and "Free-From" Information
ProteinScore.com.au does not test products and does not certify allergen status. Allergen, intolerance, and "free-from" information shown on this Service is derived solely from the on-pack ingredient list, the on-pack allergen statement, and on-pack manufacturer claims at the time we last reviewed the product.
Statements such as "may contain", "produced in a facility that handles", "made on shared equipment with", and similar precautionary allergen labelling (PAL) are not always replicated on our pages. Cross-contamination risk, line changeovers, supplier ingredient substitutions, and undeclared allergens are not visible to a label reader and are outside the scope of what this Service can capture.
Indicators we may display, including gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, lactose-free, egg-free, soy-free, nut-free, vegan, vegetarian, halal, kosher, FODMAP-friendly, low-FODMAP, low-glycaemic, palm-oil-free, GMO-free, and similar, reflect only what is stated on the pack or in the manufacturer's published ingredient list. They are not independent certifications by ProteinScore.com.au and do not constitute a representation of safety for any individual.

3C. Specific-Population Warnings
The Service is not directed at, and is not appropriate for use as the sole information source by, the following groups without prior advice from a qualified health professional or specialist:

- Children, adolescents under 18, and elderly individuals with altered protein, calcium or sodium requirements

For drug-tested athletes: ProteinScore.com.au does not test products for substances banned under the WADA Prohibited List and does not certify any product as WADA-compliant. Where a product carries a third-party batch-testing mark such as HASTA, Informed Sport, or Informed Choice, that mark is the manufacturer's claim verified by the issuing programme, not a verification by ProteinScore.com.au. Drug-tested athletes must independently verify each batch with the relevant programme before consumption.
3D. AI-Generated and Automated Content

4. Editorial Nature of Scores, Rankings, and Guides
ProteinScore ratings ("Protein Score" and "Clean Score") are editorial assessments produced by applying our proprietary scoring methodology (see /how-we-score/) to available product data. They represent the independent opinion of our editorial team and are not a guarantee of product quality, safety, or suitability for any purpose.
Our sharper product commentary is independent editorial consumer guidance based on product data, not personal dietary advice or a statement that any product is inherently safe, unsafe, healthy, or unhealthy for every person.
All product rankings on this Service are generated algorithmically using our scoring methodology applied to nutritional data. Rankings are editorial assessments, not industry certifications, government ratings, or independent laboratory results. Rankings reflect our scoring methodology applied to nutritional data that may contain errors or may not reflect the most current product formulation.
A high score does not mean a product is safe or appropriate for all individuals. A low score does not mean a product is unsafe or harmful. Scores reflect relative metrics within our category-specific framework only.
Our scoring methodology uses proprietary algorithms with category-specific weightings. The specific formulas, weightings, thresholds, and breakpoints are confidential and constitute our intellectual property. We publish the factors considered and the directional impact of each factor, but we do not disclose exact numerical values used in our calculations. Score changes are not retrospective endorsements or withdrawals of endorsement.
Point-in-time fair comment. All scores, rankings, and editorial commentary are honest opinion based on the publicly available product label and manufacturer-published nutritional information at the time the product was last reviewed. The "Updated" date displayed on each guide, category page, and product page indicates when our scoring engine last evaluated the relevant data. Scores may not reflect subsequent reformulations, label changes, ingredient substitutions, or new product variants released after that date.

Brand owners who believe a product's score, ranking, ingredient list, or editorial commentary is based on outdated, incorrect, or incomplete data may contact us at hello@proteinscore.com.au with the updated label image, nutrition information panel, and ingredients list. We will re-score the product against current data and update the published content within a reasonable timeframe.
4A. Meaning of "Clean", "Clean Score" and Related Wording
The terms "Clean Score", "clean label", "cleaner formula" and similar wording on this Service are used in a strictly editorial sense to describe the number and category of additives, sweeteners, colours, preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilisers, modified starches, flavour enhancers and other non-whole-food ingredients we have detected in a product's declared ingredient list.
"Clean" as used on this Service is not a regulated nutrition or health claim under the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Food Standards Code, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) framework, the Australian Consumer Law, or any other Australian regulation. It does not mean a product is safe to consume for any particular individual; healthier, more nutritious or more therapeutic than a product with a lower Clean Score; free from contaminants, allergens or residues not listed on the pack; certified organic, natural, chemical-free, additive-free, preservative-free or GMO-free; or endorsed, approved or verified by FSANZ, the TGA, the NHMRC, the CSIRO or any other regulator or health authority.
A high Clean Score reflects only that, in our editorial assessment of the publicly available ingredient list, the product contains comparatively few additives within the categories our engine scans for. Many additives present in low-Clean-Score products are fully approved for use in food in Australia by FSANZ, are widely used across the food supply, and have established safety assessments. Their presence in a product is not, on its own, evidence of harm.
Our additive taxonomy is non-exhaustive. Additives, processing aids, fortificants, or ingredients that fall outside the categories our engine scans for carry no Clean Score deduction. Their absence from our deductions is not an implied statement that they are safer or otherwise preferable.
The wording "Clean Score", together with "Protein Score", "The Verdict", "The Podium", "The Breakdown", "Wins", "Watch outs" and "Label Verified", is used as an unregistered trade mark of ProteinScore.com.au for editorial labelling. Always read the product's full ingredient list, allergen statement and nutrition information panel on the actual pack you are buying.
4B. "High Protein" and Other On-Pack Claims
Where a product is described on this Service as a "high protein" product, this reflects either the product's own on-pack marketing claim, its protein content as declared on the nutrition information panel, or its inclusion in a category that we cover as part of the high-protein product landscape. Whether a specific product legally qualifies as a "high protein" food under FSANZ Standard 1.2.7 nutrition content claim conditions is a matter for the manufacturer, not for ProteinScore.com.au.
Our editorial scoring uses protein content per 100g (or per 100mL for drinks, or per 100g of powder for supplements) for category-fair comparison. This is an editorial benchmark and is not a substitute for the regulated nutrition content claim framework. Always read the on-pack nutrition information panel for the legally regulated values.
4C. Commentary on Government and Industry Rating Schemes
Editorial commentary published on this Service about third-party rating systems, including the Health Star Rating (HSR), the Australian Front-of-Pack Labelling system, Nutri-Score, the NOVA classification, and any other government, regulator, industry-body or NGO scheme, is honest opinion on a matter of public interest, based on stated and cited facts.
Such commentary is published in reliance on the statutory and common-law defences of honest opinion, fair comment, and qualified privilege available under Australian defamation law as harmonised across each state and territory's Defamation Act, and on the right of comment on matters of public interest. Every numeric claim made by ProteinScore.com.au about a third-party rating scheme links to its primary source. Where a statement is our own observation rather than a cited statistic, it is identified as such.

4D. Commentary on Specific Products and Brands
Where this Service publishes a low score, a "watch out", or a critical editorial comment about a specifically named product or brand, that statement is the honest opinion of the editorial team, based on stated and cited facts (the on-pack nutrition information panel and ingredients list of the product at the time it was last reviewed by us, as recorded in the published "Updated" date).
A low score, low ranking, or critical comment is not an allegation of: fraud, dishonesty, contamination, mis-labelling, breach of the Food Standards Code, breach of any TGA listing condition, breach of advertising or trade-practices law, breach of certification standards (organic, halal, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, HASTA, Informed Sport, etc.), unsafe-for-consumption status, or any other unlawful or unsafe conduct by the manufacturer, distributor, or retailer. It is a comparative editorial assessment within our published category-specific framework only.

Assumption of risk. You acknowledge that nutritional, ingredient, allergen and ranking data on this Service may be incorrect, outdated, or incomplete despite our reasonable efforts, and you assume all risk associated with relying on such data. You agree that the appropriate way to verify any nutritional, ingredient or allergen information is to read the physical pack of the product you intend to consume.
Aggregate cap. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to any one user, in respect of all claims arising from that user's use of the Service in any 12-month period, is limited to AUD $100. This Service is provided free of charge and the user pays no consideration for access; this cap reflects that economic reality.
ACL non-exclusion. Nothing in this section excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified under the Australian Consumer Law. Where our liability for breach of a non-excludable consumer guarantee cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to the resupply of the relevant content or the cost of having that content resupplied.
