By accessing or using any part of the Service, including product rankings, buying guides, brand comparisons, product search, comparison tools, and editorial content, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all the Terms, you may not access the Service.
1. Parties
These Terms of Use constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you", or "your") and the operators of ProteinScore.com.au ("we", "us", or "our"). The Service is operated from Australia and is subject to Australian law.
2. Description of Service
ProteinScore.com.au is an independent consumer information platform that publishes editorial scores and nutritional analysis for protein-category food products available in Australia. The Service includes:
- Product rankings across five categories: Protein Bars and Snacks, High-Protein Yoghurts, Protein Shakes and Milk Drinks, High-Protein Ready Meals, and Protein Powders
- Buying guides comparing products by retailer (Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, plus major independent retailers and online stores), by brand, or by nutritional criteria
- Brand comparison guides (e.g. YoPRO vs Chobani, My Muscle Chef vs Youfoodz)
- Toplist guides ranking products by specific metrics (lowest sugar, lowest calorie, highest protein per 100g)
- Product search and a side-by-side product Compare tool
- A protein intake calculator for educational purposes
- Editorial commentary and product analysis
All ratings, scores, and editorial commentary are produced independently and represent the opinion of our editorial team based on publicly available nutritional data and our published scoring methodology (/how-we-score/). The Service does not sell products or facilitate transactions. Nutritional data is sourced from manufacturer websites and product labels, verified against the product's nutritional panel, and updated routinely. Product formulations may change without notice.
3. Not Nutritional, Medical, or Dietary Advice
Nothing on ProteinScore.com.au constitutes nutritional, dietary, medical, or health advice of any kind.
Our scores, rankings, buying guides, and editorial content are editorial assessments based on publicly available data (protein content, ingredient lists, nutritional panels). They are not recommendations or endorsements for any individual's diet, health condition, or fitness programme. Individual nutritional needs vary significantly and depend on age, health status, activity level, and other personal factors.
The protein intake calculator is for educational and general informational purposes only. It uses population-level reference values sourced from the NHMRC Nutrient Reference Values for Australia and New Zealand and is not a substitute for personalised advice from a qualified health professional.
You must not rely on any information on this Service as an alternative to advice from a qualified health professional. If you have questions about your diet or health, consult an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) registered with Dietitians Australia (dietitiansaustralia.org.au).
4. Accuracy of Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure nutritional data is accurate at the time of publication. However, product formulations, ingredients, and serving sizes can change without notice. Data is sourced from manufacturer websites and product labels, and is updated routinely. It may not always reflect the most current product specifications or formulations.
Data on this Service is collected, entered, and in some cases processed using a combination of manual entry and automated tools (including artificial intelligence and optical character recognition). While we employ verification procedures including cross-referencing manufacturer data, errors may occur in data entry, automated processing, unit conversions, or AI-generated summaries. We do not warrant that any information on the Service is complete, accurate, current, or free from error.
Product availability at specific retailers (Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, and others) is indicative only and may not reflect real-time stock levels. Products listed as available at a retailer may be temporarily out of stock, discontinued, or available only at certain locations.

4A. AI-Generated Content

While we review AI-generated content for accuracy, such content may contain errors, omissions, or mischaracterisations.
AI-generated content does not constitute a verified factual representation by ProteinScore.com.au. You should not rely on AI-generated content as the sole basis for any dietary, purchasing, or health-related decision. We disclaim all liability for inaccuracies in AI-generated content to the maximum extent permitted by law.
4B. Buying Guides, Rankings, and Comparisons
Our buying guides, brand comparisons, retailer-specific guides, and toplist rankings are editorial content produced by applying our proprietary scoring methodology to product data in our database. They represent our editorial assessment and do not constitute endorsements, sponsorships, or partnerships with any brand, manufacturer, or retailer.
Some copy on the Service uses strong editorial language, but it remains independent consumer guidance based on product data rather than personal dietary advice or a universal claim that a product is safe, unsafe, healthy, or unhealthy for every person. Where we make a strong call on a product or brand, we aim to back it with the relevant numbers, ingredient profile, or range pattern so readers can see why the verdict landed that way.
All rankings are editorial assessments generated by our platform. They are not industry certifications, government ratings, or independent laboratory test results. Guide rankings are generated automatically from current database values and may change when new products are added, products are reformulated, or scores are recalculated. Historical guide rankings are not archived and may not reflect previous results. The inclusion or exclusion of a product in any guide does not imply endorsement or criticism.
4C. Non-Affiliation and Trademarks
ProteinScore.com.au is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or commercially connected to any brand, manufacturer, or retailer featured on this Service.
Product names, brand names, trademarks, registered trademarks, and trade dress mentioned on the Service (including but not limited to Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, YoPRO, Chobani, Farmers Union, My Muscle Chef, Youfoodz, Strength Meals Co, Core Powerfoods, Rokeby Farms, Muscle Nation, Health Lab, Fibre Boost, BC Snacks, Chief Nutrition, and all other brands referenced) are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance is for identification and editorial commentary purposes only and does not imply any affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, approval, or commercial relationship.
No brand, manufacturer, or retailer has authorised, approved, or reviewed the editorial content, scores, or rankings associated with their products on this Service.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the Service (including but not limited to scoring methodology, proprietary algorithms, editorial text, buying guide content, data compilations, rankings, product analysis, and design) is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws of Australia. Reproduction, redistribution, reverse-engineering of our scoring formulas, or commercial use of any content without our prior written consent is prohibited.
Our scoring algorithms, weightings, thresholds, and breakpoints are proprietary and confidential. Any attempt to reverse-engineer, replicate, or commercially exploit our scoring methodology is strictly prohibited.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data (including product scores, rankings, nutritional data, or guide content) without our prior written consent
- Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service's security or functionality
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service at a rate that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure
- Reproduce, sell, or commercially exploit any portion of the Service's content, including guide rankings and scoring data
- Present our scores or rankings as your own editorial content without attribution
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
7. Third-Party Links
The Service contains links to third-party websites, including retailer product pages, manufacturer websites, and government bodies. These links are provided for convenience only. We have no control over third-party websites, do not endorse them, and accept no responsibility for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or terms. Your use of any linked third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's terms and policies.
Where affiliate or referral links are used, this is disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure (/affiliate-disclosure/). Affiliate arrangements do not influence our editorial scores, guide rankings, or product ratings.
8. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer right or guarantee that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other applicable Australian legislation.
Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. For services not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic, or household use, our liability is limited to resupply of the services or payment of the cost of having the services supplied again.

9A. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ProteinScore.com.au and its operators, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the Service; your reliance on any information provided on the Service (including guide rankings, product comparisons, and nutritional data); or your violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must cease using the Service.
10A. Commentary on Government and Industry Ratings
Editorial commentary on government, regulatory, or industry-administered nutrition rating schemes (including but not limited to the Health Star Rating system, the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code administered by FSANZ, NOVA food classification, Nutri-Score, and any front-of-pack labelling scheme) is provided as honest opinion and fair comment on matters of public interest under Australian defamation law (including the uniform defamation legislation in force across Australian states and territories).
Every numeric or factual claim about a government scheme is, where reasonably possible, anchored to a primary source (peer-reviewed research, government uptake reports, or the scheme's own published methodology). We do not assert that any government scheme is invalid, unlawful, or operated in bad faith. We do assert that, in our editorial opinion, certain schemes are imperfect tools when applied specifically to high-protein products, and we publish our reasoning so readers can evaluate the argument themselves.
ProteinScore.com.au is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or commercially connected to FSANZ, the Department of Health, the NHMRC, the ACCC, the OAIC, the TGA, HASTA, Informed Sport, or any government, regulatory, or certification body referenced on the Service.
10B. Indemnity for Republication
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ProteinScore.com.au and its operators from and against any claim, loss, damage, or cost (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your republication, screenshotting, sharing, or repurposing of any score, ranking, guide entry, or editorial commentary from the Service in a context that misrepresents, decontextualises, or removes the qualifying language, methodology, or disclaimers that accompany it on the Service.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws in force in the Commonwealth of Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia of competent jurisdiction.
Nothing in this clause limits any right you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other applicable Australian consumer protection legislation.
